How to Apply

The Cherwell School is committed ot the success of all its students. This includes supporting those students in the sixth form who quality for financial assistance. 

The 16-19 bursary allows qualifying students to have access to materials which they may not financially be able to provide without school support.

There are some examples of materials that the bursary may be used to support:

  • Books, revision guides and other equipment for the course
  • Bus pass
  • Cost of school trips, attendance at university open days / interviews
  • Free school meal and drink (if not claiming working tax credits)

There are two types of bursary:

Entitlement Bursary

There is a £1200 bursary for young people in care, care leavers, young people in receipt of Income Support and disabled young people in receipt of Employment Support Allowance who are also in receipt of Disability Living Allowance.

Discretionary Bursary

This bursary is for students, whose parents or carers are in receipt of certain support payments (combined parental income is less than £16,190). To quality, the parents or carers must apply with proof of entitlement.

In order for a student to quality for the bursary fund, proof of financial need or circumstance is required in addition to successful enrolment. If you are unsure or would like more information, please contact Tina Surrage (tsurrage@cherwellschool.org)
