16-19 Tuition Fund

The 16 to 19 tuition fund is ring-fenced funding for schools, colleges and all other 16 to 19 institutions for the provision of 16 to 19 education, to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus (COVID-19). The funding is to provide small group tuition for students who have not achieved level 5 in maths or English.  Students with SEND, disabilities and bursary students who require additional tuition to help them to catch up are also eligible.

At The Cherwell School Sixth Form the funding will be used to provide individual and small group tuition for eligible students where the need for further support has been identified.  This will take place in addition to students’ timetabled lessons and in a range of A levels as staffing allows. In these sessions students will be supported to deepen their knowledge and understanding of A level concepts, gain support to complete assignments and help in preparing for assessments.  Tuition may involve one –off sessions or take place over a longer period of time.  Typically, students’ needs and participation will be reviewed each term.

Students may self-refer and if they are eligible and would like to access this support, should speak to their Deputy Year Leader in the first instance.
